How to Cook Buckwheat  (aka Kasha)

Cooked buckwheat is a staple side dish in Eastern Europe. It has a nutty and earthy flavor profile and can be substituted wherever you use rice, quinoa, or other grains.

– buckwheat groats toasted – water Unsalted Butter – salt

Place buckwheat, water, salt, and butter in a heavy sauce pan with a lid.

STEP 1

Bring it to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover sauce pan with a lid. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes.

STEP 2

Turn off the heat. Let buckwheat rest for 10 minutes. Fluff it with a fork. Serve hot.
