Stuffed Shells with Meat Sauce

These three-cheese stuffed pasta shells are baked in a hearty meat sauce and topped with melted cheese. This dish is guaranteed to have you coming back for seconds!

Ingredients

  • 15 oz jumbo shells
  • 1 lb ground beef 85% lean
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 24 oz spaghetti sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  • Bring salted water to a boil. Cook the jumbo pasta shells four minutes short of package instructions. Drain the water and set the shells aside.

  • Preheat a large skillet and add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Add in the diced onion and cook until it's translucent.

  • Pour the spaghetti sauce into the cooking meat. Stir it together as it simmers for about five minutes. Set it aside.

  • In a separate bowl, mix ricotta, parmesan cheese, half a mozzarella cheese, egg, and Italian seasoning. Stir until well combined.

  • Spread half of the meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish (9x13 size). Fill each shell with the cheese mixture and place it in the baking dish.

  • Top the shells with the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle on the mozzarella cheese. Cover the dish with foil or a lid.

  • Bake at 375°F for 15 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for 10 more minutes or until the cheese is lightly golden in color.
