Bang Bang Shrimp (with Sauce)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra large shrimp tail on, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup corn starch
  • oil for frying

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, sweet chili sauce, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

  • In another bowl, toss the shrimp and buttermilk until well coated. Place the cornstarch in a shallow bowl or plate and set aside.

  • Add 2-3 inches of oil to a large pot and place it on the stove over high heat. Heat until the oil registers 360-375°F with a deep-frying thermometer.

  • Drain the buttermilk from the shrimp. Then, dredge the shrimp in the cornstarch, shaking off any excess.

  • Working in batches, add the shrimp to the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes, flipping halfway. Place the cooked shrimp on a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat until all the shrimp is cooked.

  • Add the warm shrimp and Bang Bang sauce into a bowl and mix together until well coated. Serve immediately and enjoy!
