Hi, I'm Natalya Drozhzhin, I am a mom of two wild boys and a wife of the most amazing person. I was born in Ukraine, moved to U.S. with my family at the age of 12. The Russian/Ukrainian-US community is inspired by the tradition of a stay-at-home moms and homemade meals; except that I'm not stay-at-home.
Being a business owner, a mom, a wife and a friend, I know how hard it is to get into the kitchen and cook something up. That’s why I want to give back to the community by sharing tasty meals that are influenced by both cultures, easy to make and a bit healthy. But why healthy?
Often when you read my recipes, you will notice that I will point out things about health, weight, etc.. You see, when I got married, I gained about 10 lbs, and before long, I got pregnant, reached a whopping weight of 205 lbs, during the pregnancy, of coarse; but still it was not easy to get back in shape. That is why healthy foods have become a huge part of my life. I have to admit - I do give myself a break every now and then; mostly when I bake.
Now, if you've ever tried cooking and it hasn't tasted so good, give yourself a chance! Here's how I started.
I'm the youngest of five and have never got a chance to cook. My oldest sister is a graduated chef, other sisters bake very well and I.... well, got to be the one doing house chores. When my husband and I got together, I haven't had a clue how to cook. We had much of food going to waste. It took a whole lot of reading, recipe searching and coaching by my family to learn. That is why I want to use this opportunity to make cooking easy and a little fun, for every busy mom out there.
Last, but not least, I want to thank all of you for making Mom's Dish what it is today, and as always, love hearing your feedback. Also, a big thanks to the greatest guy on earth, my husband, Tim. He has been my biggest support and a critic of my food, of coarse. He has put in great effort into this website, which took many months of hard work to develop, and even equipped me with a good camera and a studio.
Thanks again for visiting and see you around!
