The days of searching for a balanced breakfast are over — these yogurt parfaits are packed with protein and super kid-friendly. Check out all our varieties!

Tim and I are always on the hunt for ways to increase our protein intake, so stumbling into the world of yogurt parfaits was game-changing. They’re crazy easy and quick to prep the night before, absolutely delicious, and balanced. Plus, our two teen boys are always looking for protein in the fridge (any other parents relate?), and they love these parfaits!
I can never think clearly at breakfast time… it feels like my brain is lagging behind the rest of my body. So when I found this little secret, I knew I had to share it with the rest of my morning-strugglers. I place a yogurt parfait at eye level in the fridge so when I stumble into the kitchen in the early hours, it’s the first thing I see and grab. Anything to make life easier, right?

How To Make Yogurt Parfaits
The night before, set aside 10 minutes to whip up this yogurt parfait recipe — your morning self will thank you. Now you’re one step closer to a full and happy stomach!
- Add the first layer of yogurt: Add half a cup of yogurt each to four small Mason jars or glasses.
- Layer on the granola and fruit: Add one tablespoon of granola and a layer of blueberries and sliced strawberries on top of the yogurt.
- Repeat: Finish the parfaits off with another half a cup of yogurt, one tablespoon of granola, and fruit to your heart’s content.
Hot tip: I prefer crispy granola — if you’re like me, save the granola as a topping and add it right before serving.

Our Favorite Ingredient Variations
I love having these yogurt parfaits as a grab-and-go breakfast, but they can easily be enjoyed as dessert too. Try any of these varieties to transform your (or your kids’) opinion of yogurt forever!
- Yogurt: Plain Greek yogurt is our go-to choice, but vanilla yogurt is a close second. Not only is Greek yogurt thicker and creamier than regular yogurt, it’s loaded with protein! Use any of your favorite flavors.
- Fruit: What better way to get your antioxidants in than with fresh berries? Add blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, or raspberries. For more fresh fruit options, go with sliced bananas, diced mango, cherries, or kiwi.
- Granola: This recipe features our homemade chocolate raspberry granola (yum!). If you’re craving another flavor, try our coconut granola clusters.
- Spreads: Layer on peanut butter, Nutella, or raspberry jam for a smooth and sweet surprise.
- Other mix-ins: Add a crunch with your favorite nuts (like almonds or walnuts), or sneak in a sprinkle of chia seeds. Get creative with coconut flakes or chocolate chips, and while you’re at it, add cinnamon and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup to seal the deal.

Tips for the Best Yogurt Parfaits
These yogurt parfaits might be one of the most simple recipes we’ve published yet. Nonetheless, I learned a few pointers while testing this recipe — and I’d love to share them with you.
- Use fresh fruit. Not only is in-season fruit more nutritious and tasty, it’s usually cheaper than greenhouse-grown fruit. Avoid frozen fruit (as convenient as it is) because the juices produced while thawing result in soggy parfaits.
- Opt for a thicker yogurt. Fun fact — Greek yogurt is strained to remove whey, the liquid by-product of culturing milk. As a result, it’s thicker than regular yogurt and therefore makes the perfect choice for yogurt parfaits. The thicker the yogurt, the better the layers.
- Make it your own! Add your favorite toppings and customize the parfaits to suit your dietary needs. Are you looking for gluten or dairy free options? Use gluten free granola and coconut or almond yogurt.
Storage
Whether you’re enjoying a yogurt parfait as an easy breakfast or a quick snack, it’s important to follow proper storage guidelines. Refrigerate the parfaits for up to three days in an airtight container like a Mason jar for the tastiest results. (Bonus points if you keep the parfaits at eye level in the fridge like I do so they’ll be the first choice when looking for a snack!)
