Plated Caprese Salad Skewers .

It may be my Ukrainian roots talking, but I love vibrant cooking… fresh and colorful ingredients, bold flavors, and beautiful presentation. Caprese salad checks all those boxes for me, so these skewers are one of my favorite appetizers to make. They taste SO light and refreshing, and the garden ingredients remind me of my childhood.

As many of you know, I am also obsessed with hosting and feeding guests — it’s how I love on the closest people in my life. Whether it’s a huge BBQ get-together or humble family dinner, these Caprese skewers are always a hit. (Bonus: I almost always make these skewers in advance to save time!)

How To Make Caprese Salad Skewers

These Caprese skewers could not be easier to make! Assemble your ingredients, thread them onto skewers, and boom — you’ve got a 10-minute appetizer.

  • Assemble the skewers: For each skewer, thread on a cherry tomato, basil leaf, mozzarella ball, another basil leaf, and another cherry tomato.
  • Add a drizzle of oil and balsamic glaze: Arrange the skewers on a serving platter, then drizzle them with olive oil and balsamic reduction and season them with salt and pepper to taste.

Tips From the Kitchen

We all know that I’m Italian at heart, so of course, I’m very passionate about the perfect proportion of tomato to basil. I’m kidding (kind of), but here are three tips to produce the best Caprese skewers.

  • Use your favorite cherry tomatoes. I love using garden-fresh cherry tomatoes picked right from the vine, but any ripe cherry tomatoes work (or grape tomatoes). Use a variety of colors for extra-vibrant skewers.
  • Invest in mini skewers. Sure, you could use regular grilling skewers for these, but there’s something satisfying about plucking cherry tomatoes from a little stick. These or these are my top skewer choices.
  • Prep the skewers ahead of time. You’re in a rush to get the house ready for hosting, and appetizers are the last thing on your mind — trust me, I’ve been there. Assemble the skewers and keep them refrigerated for up to 24 hours in advance. Remember to add the oil, balsamic, and seasonings right before serving.

Caprese salad skewers are best enjoyed immediately, but feel free to refrigerate the leftovers for up to 24 hours in an airtight container if needed.
