Dessert pizza?? If you’re feeling skeptical, allow me to explain. Everyone knows and loves the traditional cheese and sauce pizza, but dessert pizza swaps the savory toppings for sweet ones. It can be made with fruit, spreads, pastry dough — you name it! I wasn’t a strong believer in dessert pizza until I saw this recipe by The Food Network. My Nutella-loving heart was instantly won over, and I knew I had to recreate my own version right away.

This Nutella pizza is my simple, but delicious version of a dessert pizza. It requires only three ingredients — one of which is half a pound of pizza dough. If it’s pizza night and you have extra dough left over, this recipe is the perfect way to use it up. It’s guaranteed to be adored by kids (and adults), and it’s so fun to make and easy to customize!

How To Make Nutella Pizza

You are only three steps away from chocolatey, mouthwatering success. Roll and bake the pre-made dough, then add all your favorite toppings and indulge.

  • Roll out the crust: Preheat the oven to 450°F. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and use a rolling pin to roll it out to a 12-14 inch circle. Transfer the crust to a pizza pan and poke holes all over with a fork.
  • Bake the crust: Bake the crust for 15-20 minutes.
  • Add the toppings: Add the Nutella and strawberries to the warm crust, then slice and enjoy.

Topping Ideas

My boys LOVE this Nutella pizza because they can go crazy with toppings! Add whatever your heart desires for a dessert pizza perfectly suited to your tastes.

  • Nuts: For a nutty crunch, add chopped hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds, pecans, or walnuts. You can’t go wrong with a drizzle of peanut butter!
  • Chocolate: Sprinkle semisweet or white chocolate chips on top for even more chocolate-y goodness. If adding chocolate chips, you can pop your pizza back in the oven for another few minutes if you want them to melt a bit.
  • Fruit: Add sliced bananas, blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, or any of your favorite fruits.
  • Coconut flakes: If you’re a fan of coconut, top your pizza with toasted coconut flakes.
  • Marshmallows: For a s’mores vibe, add mini marshmallows and broil the pizza just until they’re toasted golden brown. Bonus points if you add a sprinkle of crushed graham crackers!
  • Powdered sugar: Make it snow with powdered sugar for a finishing touch.

Tips For the Best Nutella Pizza

This recipe is truly so simple that anyone can make it! If you’re still not feeling completely confident, read through these tips to cover all the bases.

  • Use homemade pizza dough. Nothing compares to the flavor and texture of homemade pizza dough. If you make my one-day pizza dough recipe, keep in mind that you’ll only need 1/4 of it. For a more time-consuming but even tastier dough, make my overnight pizza dough or sourdough pizza crust. However, there’s no judgement for buying pizza dough from the store!
  • Opt for a pizza pan. I find it easiest to transfer the pizza to a circular pizza pan, but feel free to use a pizza stone or just a regular baking sheet.
  • Wait a few minutes before adding toppings. It only takes a bit of heat for Nutella to go from a luscious thick spread to a runny mess. Allow the crust to cool for a few minutes before layering on the toppings to ensure the slices stay together.
