This week I’m pulling out my sourdough starter and making some delicious breakfasts, desserts, and dinners with it. But don’t worry — not every night is sourdough… unless you want it to be!

Hot tip: If you need more information on how to start using sourdough, check out our “Feeding and Maintaining Sourdough Starter.”
Mouth-Watering Monday: Chicken Enchilada Soup
Is anyone else in the mood for a warm, hearty soup to start the week? I know I am — and this enchilada soup is one of my favorites. Prep is super quick, which is a great perk for a Monday night.

Hot tips
- My instant pot chicken thighs, blackened chicken, and air fryer chicken breast are great cooked chicken options. Or, use store-bought rotisserie chicken!
- Canned veggies make prep so easy, but the canning juices can be super salty. Rinse the canned corn and beans, and only use the veggies in your soup (no juices).
- Serve the soup with a side of air fryer tortilla chips or baked tortilla chips and toppings like fresh diced tomatoes, avocado slices, sour cream, cheese, etc.
“Together” Tuesday: Sourdough Pizza Crust
I really love sourdough — and this pizza crust is such a great way to use it! My family enjoys this recipe because it gives us a reason to come together and participate in a fun dinner activity. The toppings are endless, and it’s so easy to make personal pizzas for everyone!

Hot tips
- Create a list of your favorite pizza toppings and add them to your shopping list for the week.
- The dough in this recipe does require an overnight proof, so it’s best to start making the dough on Sunday or Monday evening/night so it’s ready on Tuesday.
- Double up on the dough recipe and freeze individual dough rounds for up to three months. Make family pizza night a regular event!
Winning Wednesday: Chicken Broccoli Alfredo
Have you ever made Alfredo sauce yourself? Well, there’s no need to buy canned Alfredo anymore — because you can make your own winning Alfredo sauce. It’s surprisingly simple, and I personally think it tastes better, too!

Hot tips
- Reserve some pasta water if you need to rehydrate your pasta when reheating.
- Check out the blog post for ideas on variations and substitutions. I have suggestions for veggies and also a way to use shrimp instead of chicken!
- If you have leftover chicken from the last couple meals, toss it into the Alfredo here! It’s a great way to use it all up.
Tasty Thursday: Braised Lamb Shanks
Alright, let’s change it up a little bit, shall we? We’ve had chicken and pizza this week, so it’s time for something a bit different — lamb! These lamb shanks are incredibly flavorful, tender, and an overall great Thursday night dinner.

Hot tips
- If possible, brown the meat. This adds so much flavor and a slightly crispier texture to the outside.
- Substitute the dry red wine with beef broth if needed. I prefer the rich taste that red wine gives the dish, but if you don’t — that’s okay too!
- Serve the shanks with creamy mashed potatoes and a slice of sourdough bread or French bread.
Fryin’ Friday: Air Fryer Steak Bites with Mushrooms
Believe it or not, these steak bites are done in 25 minutes. No need to fire up the flame here — the air fryer does all the hard work!

Hot tips
- Serve with leftover mashed potatoes from Thursday’s dinner.
- I tend to stick with cuts of beef like flank, chuck roast, ribeye, new york strip steak, or sirloin steak for the best results.
- Change up the flavor with different (and more spicy) seasonings and veggies.
Breakfast of the Week: Sourdough Pancakes
If you’ve made anything sourdough this week, you will very likely have some discard left over. Don’t throw it away! Instead, use it up in these sourdough pancakes. Make a huge batch of pancakes to last throughout the week and/or freeze them for later.

Dessert of the Week: Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies
These chocolate chip cookies are seriously one of my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipes. The sourdough discard gives the cookies such a unique taste, yet not one that is too far from the original chocolate chip cookie that we all love and cherish.
